Muir Woods & California Wine Tasting Combo Tour


We will pick you up at your hotel in one of our comfortable vans. Best Bay Area Tours’ “Muir Woods- California Wine Tasting Combination Tour” will then take you from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, past the Marin Headlands, and into a magical Redwood forest known as Muir Woods. Muir Woods is one of the most amazing and beautiful sights in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Coastal Sequoias (Redwoods) in Muir Woods are the tallest trees in the world! These towering and majestic Redwoods are found only along the Northern California coast, and after decades of logging, only 5% of these old growth trees remain. On our drive to Muir Woods, our knowledgeable guide will explain how this grove of Redwoods was spared from the clear-cutting that went on during the gold rush and then again during the rebuilding and reconstruction of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake.

Once in the grove of Redwoods, you will have an hour and a half to spend in the Redwood grove to hike or walk peacefully amongst these beautiful and awe-inspiring Sequoia trees. We will then leave Muir Woods and continue on to Sonoma Valley and our first winery.

On our drive to Sonoma Valley’s wine region your knowledgeable tour guide will educate you about California’s wine country, including the history of the wine industry in California, the geography of the region and why this area is so perfect for growing grapes and producing wine.

Once in the Sonoma Valley, you will have an opportunity to sample some of the finest wines California has to offer. We will stop at our first winery at approximately 11:30 A.M. to enjoy the wine tasting, walk the grounds of the winery, and take in the fresh California air.

We will continue on to the town of Sonoma for lunch where you can sample many California cheeses and enjoy lunch at The Sonoma Cheese Factory. They also have fudge for sampling as well as some fine ice cream. You will also have time to explore the quaint town of Sonoma.

After lunch we will continue on our wine tasting adventure with stops at two more wineries. The wineries that we have selected for you were chosen after extensive experience touring many wineries. We know how well these wineries treat our groups and how fine the wines are. The tastings are all complimentary and are included in the price of the tour.

We will then start on our return to San Francisco with a drive through picturesque Sausalito California and then up into the Marin Headlands which provides stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco beyond. This is an excellent opportunity to take some memorable photographs. Arrival in San Francisco is generally around 6:00 P.M.

8:45 - 9:15 Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, through Sausalito and then to Muir Woods National Park.
9:15 - 10:45 Explore magical Muir Woods National Park for 1 1/2 hours.
10:45 - 11:30 Drive to the Sonoma Valley to visit our first winery.
11:30 - 12:15 Spend time wine tasting and visiting first winery.
12:15 - 12:30 Drive to the town of Sonoma.
12:30 - 1:30 Spend an hour in Sonoma having a wonderful lunch.
1:30 - 1:45 Drive to our second winery.
1:45 - 2:30 Spend time wine tasting and visiting our second winery.
2:30 - 2:45 Drive to our third winery.
2:45 - 3:45 Spend time wine tasting and visiting our third winery.
3:45 - 5:00 Drive back to San Francisco with a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for a wonderful photo stop.
5:00 - 5:30 Return to your hotel.
