California Cheese and Wine Tasting Tour



We will pick you up at your hotel in one of our comfortable vans. Best Bay Area Tours’ “California Cheese & Wine Tasting Tour” will then take you from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, past the Marin Headlands, and then continue on our drive to beautiful Sonoma California and our visit to an organic dairy farm and creamery. Once at the creamery you will be educated about the process of making cheese and other dairy products. You will have an opportunity to see some of the Jersey cows that produce the milk used in making the cheese. We will also see the milking parlor where the cows are milked and actually see some of the cheese being made at this location. We will then move on to the larger creamery, have a tour of the facilities and perhaps have an opportunity to make your own butter. Here we will get to sample many different freshly made cheeses and ice cream. We will also have our lunch here at the creamery.

After lunch we will drive over to the Sonoma Valley and visit California’s wine country,where will learn about the history of the wine industry in California, the geography of the region, how wine is made, and why this area is so perfect for growing grapes and producing wine. Your knowledgeable guide will also help you with suggestions on how to transport your wine purchases home and where the best wine values might be.

We will visit at least three wineries that will be different in size, styles of wines produced, and atmosphere. This will give you a varied experience. Depending on the time of the year, we may also have an opportunity to observe the process of making wine. Who knows, we may even have a chance to do some olive oil and mustard tasting along the way. Olive oil production is second only to wine making in Sonoma and Napa. All cheese and wine tastings are complimentary. On our way back to San Francisco we will make a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for some wonderful picture taking and beautiful scenery. So come along with us and enjoy the day experiencing some of the best cheeses, wines and scenery California has to offer.

8:00 - 8:45 Pick-up at your San Francisco hotel.
8:45 - 9:30 Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, through Sausalito and then up to the Sonoma Coast and the creamery.
9:30 - 11:30 Spend the morning touring the creamery and sampling great cheese.
11:30 - 12:00 Drive to the Sonoma Valley to visit our first winery.
12:00 - 12:45 Visit our first winery.
12:45 - 1:00 Drive to the Sonoma Valley and the quaint town of Sonoma, California.
1:00 - 2:00 Spend an hour in Sonoma having a wonderful lunch.
2:00 - 2:15 Drive to our second winery.
2:15 - 3:00 Spend time wine tasting and visiting our second winery.
3:00 - 3:15 Drive to our third winery.
3:15 - 4:00 Spend time wine tasting and visiting our third winery.
4:00 - 5:00 Drive back to San Francisco with a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for a wonderful photo stop.
5:00 - 5:30 Return to your hotel.

We will, however, do everything we can to get you on another tour at no additional charge if time and availability permits.
